Overview

A systematic approach to state strengthening through internal reforms and external diplomatic strategies, derived from Shang Yang's governance of Qin.

Steps

Internal Reforms

  1. Establish legal systems - Create and codify laws to govern the state
  2. Promote agriculture and weaving - Focus on economic productivity through farming and textile production
  3. Prepare defense capabilities - Build military readiness for both defensive and offensive operations

External Strategy

  1. Implement horizontal alliance strategy (连衡) - Form bilateral alliances to divide and weaken rival states
  2. Encourage conflicts among rivals - Use diplomacy to make neighboring states fight each other

Expected Outcomes

  • Strengthened internal economy and military
  • Weakened rival states through diplomatic manipulation
  • Expanded territorial control with minimal direct conflict

Validation
