Governance by Adaptation Method

Overview

A governance methodology attributed to Taigong (Jiang Ziya) for effectively ruling newly acquired territories by working with rather than against local conditions.

Steps

  1. Adapt to Local Customs (因其俗)

    • Study and respect existing local traditions and practices
    • Avoid imposing foreign customs that conflict with local ways
    • Identify which customs can be preserved and which need modification

  2. Simplify Rituals and Protocols (简其礼)
