After Eve Shaw marries into the York family, her own family is destroyed, leaving her with nowhere to go but York Manor. During childbirth, Sally Wade, a maid from Eve’s past, jealous of her status, swaps their children to secure her own child’s claim to the York family’s wealth. Eve knows what happened but stays silent, secretly seeking treatment for her dying daughter. For sixteen years, Sally visits as Zoe’s godmother, treating Eve’s daughter with disdain. When Zoe becomes the Crown Princess, Sally reveals the truth, shocking everyone. Calmly, Eve removes her outer clothing to reveal the general's armor beneath. As the descendant of a legendary general, Eve leads an army against her husband.
