Rodger's uncle seized the family leadership by killing his grandfather and parents, crippling Rodger and leaving him destitute. A young girl once saved his life. Years later, believing that girl to be Dina, he fell in love with her. After five years away, Rodger returned as a powerful warden and a celebrated figure. He planned a lavish wedding for Dina, but her family scorned him, thinking him a convict. Just before revealing his status, he learned that his true savior was Dina's cousin, Alina. He then asked for Alina's hand instead.
