Chloe, the adopted daughter of the Smith family, is forced to marry Evan, a rumored "poor bastard", to fund her sister Rose's life-saving surgery. But Evan isn't poor. He hides his true power while secretly protecting her. Chloe endures her adoptive family's abuse and workplace harassment at Sterling. Evan steps in every time, silent, deadly, devoted. She falls for the "poor" man beside her. Then she discovers the truth: Evan is Lawrence, the mysterious president of Sterling. He knew she was a substitute bride, but he loved her anyway. The villains pay, the truth wins, and a cold contract marriage becomes their greatest love story.
