After her father's death at twelve, Ellie was left to live with her stepmother Aubrey and a half-brother. For $300,000, Aubrey forced her to marry Caleb, a newly rich man. The night before the wedding, a wrong address from Aubrey led Ellie into the room of Eli, a top lawyer who had been drugged. Disoriented, he slept with her, and Ellie left in anger. Nine months later, seeking legal help to divorce Caleb, she walked into Eli's law firm, unaware he had been searching for her all along.
