Thea, the Reed family's heiress, discovers her fiancé, Henry, has been letting his friend Lynn eavesdrop on their private moments. Henry accuses her of overreacting. After pressure from his parents, Thea gives him one last chance. But Henry, along with his friends, continues to humiliate her. When he learns Thea has secretly married the most influential man in the city and realizes he's just a pawn in the Grants' game, he's shattered.
