Sadie unexpectedly became bound to a mystical force that granted her repeated life, but each resurrection consumed a tremendous amount of energy. She deeply loved Nicholas and was willing to protect him from danger over and over. However, Nicholas grew indifferent and numb to her death because of her ability to resurrect. He even allowed her to take a fatal threat meant for his first love. Disheartened, Sadie agreed, but he remained unaware that this was her last chance at life. It wasn't until Sadie's presence disappeared for good that Nicholas was overwhelmed by remorse.
