On the day of their engagement, Nicolas was preoccupied with celebrating his first love's birthday and cancelled the engagement. Emely ultimately lost her affection for him and left. At first, Nicolas thought she was merely upset and would return to him later. However, when he discovered that she had married someone else, he went into a rage. Emely possessed a special power: any words of bad luck spoken by her would come true, but they wouldn’t affect those she loved. After their breakup, that power returned to her once more.
