About this game

Begin with a capital surrounded by unclaimed land. Defeat local militia, expand your borders and choose where to found cities or outposts. Develop production, research troop upgrades and defend your holdings with garrisons. Neighbouring realms pursue their own plans. They declare war, explain their claims and give you a turn to prepare before attacking. Trade, negotiate treaties and alliances, or launch an offensive. Watch battles fought by each culture’s own troops. The Royal Atlas offers six maps. Choose from three difficulty levels and pursue a military, economic or cultural victory.

How to play

Choose a map in the Royal Atlas, a culture with its ruler, and a difficulty level. Select neighbouring land on the map. Defeat local militia to claim guarded territory. Found cities and outposts on your land. Select your settlement to open Development. City mode offers farms, lumber mills and quarries. Suitable terrain allows production to develop further. Special buildings in the capital unlock more options. Use Army to recruit troops and research upgrades. Manage food, gold and population; garrisons defend cities and outposts. Buy missing resources in Trade. Use Diplomacy to negotiate treaties or declare war. When the AI declares war, use the warning turn to prepare. When attacking, choose your troops and watch the battle or resolve it quickly. Press End Turn to receive income and let rivals act. Select the victory percentage at the top of the screen to see your realm’s objectives.
