About this game

A run is ten rooms and ten minutes. The dead drop crystals, crystals become levels, and every level offers three cards: a new weapon, a new passive, or a level for something already in your hands. Seven slots, and you will want more than seven things — so every pick cuts something away. Between rooms the map opens, whole, from the first fork. Every node is a deal: it shows how the room will be worse than an ordinary one, and what it pays for that. You are not choosing whether you get lucky — you are choosing how much risk to take. Room five holds the Dragon, room ten the Devourer. Both tell you what is coming: the wind-up is drawn on the floor, and every blow can be stepped out of. Died? The gold stays. In the menu it buys upgrades that work from the first room of your next run, and new characters. Twelve weapons, thirteen artifacts, five skills, a map that is new every time.

How to play

Walk — the game does the rest. Your weapons fire and swing without you. Controls • Desktop: WASD or arrows. Skills on Q, E, R and F (the first is also on Space). Esc, or the button in the top right, opens the menu. Tab shows what you carry. • Phone: touch the screen anywhere and the stick appears there. Skills are the round buttons in the bottom right — each takes its own finger, so you can press them without letting go of the stick. What to do 1. Clear the room: while monsters are on the floor, there is no way on. 2. Pick up the crystals — they give levels, and a level gives you a choice of three cards. 3. Look for chests: three in every room, hidden away from the path. 4. On the map, choose the next room. Each says how much worse it is than an ordinary one, and what it pays. 5. Rooms 5 and 10 are bosses. Their moves can be read: the wind-up is drawn on the floor. Dying is fine. The gold stays with you and buys upgrades in the menu that work from the first room of your next run.
