How to play

Neon Guitar is a 2D rhythm game about hitting notes to play a song using the keyboard or an X-style controller. If playing on mobile, you'll have icons to tap coordinating with each of the notes. On the keyboard, the notes (from left to right) are assigned to the A, S, K, and L keys. On the controller, they're mapped to the LB, LT, RB, and RT buttons. The goal is to hit as many notes as you can as they correspond to the selected song from start to finish. When you select a song, you'll be presented with several columns stretching out ahead of you. At the button of each column is a color-coded button representing a note. As the song plays, notes will fall toward these buttons. The moment they pass over them is when you have to press the corresponding keys or buttons to hit the note. Notes can come in groups, or solo, and will appear in various patterns. If you miss too many notes, you'll be booed off the stage and will have to try again. The more notes you hit in sequence, the higher your score, and the more your special meter will fill up. When it's full, all the notes will transform and be worth even more points. Songs come with Easy, Normal, and Hard difficulty settings. The harder the difficulty, the more notes and combinations you'll have to hit.
